Fr. Serovpe Alanjian, Pastor St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church
From 1976 – 1985, I received my primary elementary education at the George Mardigian School.
From 1985-1992, I received my secondary and high school degrees from Yeghishe Manoukian College.
From 1993-1994, after receiving my high school diploma, I attended BUC (Beirut University College).
Upon graduation and the receipt of the diploma, I sought a career in my field of expertise.
In 2003, I immigrated to the United States to establish permanent residence.
In 2004, I met my spouse Arusyak Balikyan to whom I married by the grace of God.
On November 27, 2008, we were graced by God with our first-born child, Krikor Hovsep Alanjian and in January II, 20 II our daughter Natalie Mary was born.
I have served in the Armenian Apostolic Church since my childhood days in Lebanon.
From 2003-2007, I served at St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Pasadena.
In January 2008, I was ordained as a Deacon at St. Sarkis Armenian Church in East Los Angeles by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Church.
From then on, 2008-2013, I served at the St. Leon Cathedral Parish in Burbank and at the Armenian Church ofVentura County, Santa Barbara and San Louise Obispo as Deacon-in-Charge.
I began to follow the Stewardship Program of the Western Diocese and expressed interest in becoming a Priesthood-Candidate. I attended special training seminars and participated in religious courses and lectures.
From 20I0-2013, I attended St. John’s Seminary and graduated with a Master of Pastoral Theology degree.
On October 7, 2014, I was ordained into the Sacred Order of the Priesthood, by His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral.
Shortly after my ordination, from 2014-2016, I was assigned as a parish priest in Ventura County.
From 2016 to 2020, I served as Parish Priest of St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Santa Clarita.
Starting March, 2020 I became the Parish Priest of St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church in Costa Mesa
